Aperture priorityAperture priority, often abbreviated A or Av (for Aperture value) on a camera mode dial, is a setting on some cameras that allows the user to choose a specific aperture value while the camera selects a shutter speed to match. The camera will ensure proper exposure. This is different from manual mode, where the user must decide both values, shutter priority where the user picks a shutter speed with the camera selecting the aperture to match, or program mode where the camera selects both.

Autofocus: An autofocus (or AF) optical system uses a sensor, a control system and a motor to focus fully automatic or on a manually selected point or area. An electronic rangefinder has a display instead of the motor; the adjustment of the optical system has to be done manually until indication.

Manual Focus: In the field of photography, a manual focus camera is one in which the operator has to adjust the focus of the lens by hand. Before the advent of autofocus, all cameras had manually adjusted focusing; thus, the term is a retronym.

Week3 Wednesday

JuxtapositionJuxtaposition is the placement of two things (usually abstract concepts, though it can refer to physical objects) near each other.

Geometric Shapes vs.Organic ShapesOrganic shapes are shapes with a natural look and a flowing and curving appearance. For this reason, they are often also referred to as curvilinear shapes.

Rule of ThirdsThe rule of thirds is a compositional rule of thumb in visual arts such as paintingphotography and design. The rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections.

Aperture: In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane.

Shutter Speed: In photography, shutter speed is a common term used to discuss exposure time, the effective length of time a camera's shutter is open. The total exposure is proportional to this exposure time, or duration of light reaching the film or image sensor.
